Privacy policy

For the WPS PBX browser extension and this website.
Last updated .

The short version

The WPS PBX extension talks only to the phone system you point it at. It has no account, no analytics, and no telemetry. We receive nothing. Your settings stay in your browser on your own device, and the page text it reads to find phone numbers never leaves the page.

Which policy is this? This one covers the WPS PBX browser extension and this website, which receive no data. The hosted phone service — the managed phone system we run for business customers — does process personal data and has its own hosted service privacy policy.

Who we are

The data controller is 1MC, Inc. WirePro Solutions (WPS) is a brand of 1MC, Inc., and WPS PBX is its phone-system product. All three names refer to the same company.

You can reach us at [email protected] or +1 818-688-5001.

What the extension does

WPS PBX has a single purpose: placing calls to phone numbers you click. It reads the page you are viewing to find phone numbers, marks them, and — when you click one — asks your phone system to place that call from your extension.

Information the extension handles

Your settings, on your device

To reach your phone system the extension needs three things from you: your PBX address, your extension number, and your password. These are stored using your browser's extension storage (storage.local) on your own device. They are not sent to us, and there is nowhere on our side for them to go.

Your password is stored as an MD5 digest, never as plain text. The plain text of your password is never transmitted.

Page content, in the page

To find phone numbers, the extension reads the text of pages you visit. This happens in the page, as you view it, and only for as long as that takes. Page text is not collected, not stored, and nothing is transmitted as a result of scanning. The extension does not build a record of the pages you visit or the numbers it finds.

The call request

When you click a number, the extension makes one outbound request: to the phone system you configured, asking it to place the call. That request goes directly from your browser to your PBX. It is the only outbound request the extension makes, it happens only on an explicit click by you, and it does not pass through us.

What your phone system then does with that request — including any logging or call records it keeps — is governed by your own phone system and your organisation's policies, not by this policy.

What we collect

Nothing. Specifically:

  • There is no account to create. We hold no user record for you.
  • There is no analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or tracking of any kind.
  • We do not receive your PBX address, extension number, password, or password digest.
  • We do not receive the numbers you call, the pages you visit, or the text on them.
  • We do not sell, share, or transfer personal data, because none reaches us.

This website is static and serves no third-party scripts, fonts, or trackers, and sets no cookies. Our hosting provider processes standard server request data in order to serve the page to you.

Limited Use — Chrome Web Store

WPS PBX's use of information received through the extension complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Against each of the Limited Use requirements:

  • Allowed use. Data handled by the extension is used only to provide its single purpose — placing calls to phone numbers you click. It is not used for any other purpose.
  • Allowed transfer. We do not transfer data to third parties. The only party the extension sends anything to is the phone system you yourself configured.
  • Prohibited advertising. We do not use or transfer data for personalised, re-targeted, or interest-based advertising, or to determine credit-worthiness or for lending purposes.
  • Prohibited human interaction. No human reads your data. None of it reaches us, so there is nothing for anyone here to read.

Permissions, and why each exists

  • Access to page content. Required to find phone numbers on the pages you view and to mark them as callable. This is the extension's core function and it works only in the page.
  • Storage. Required to keep your PBX address, extension number, and password digest on your device between sessions, so you configure them once.

The extension requests no permission that is not needed for the purpose above. If your browser lets you revoke site access, revoking it stops the extension finding numbers on that site; nothing else about your data changes.

Your data, your control

Because your settings live only in your browser, you control them directly. Clearing them in the extension's settings, or removing the extension, removes them from your device. There is no copy for us to delete, and no request you need to make of us to have it done.

If you have a question about this policy, or believe something here does not match how the extension behaves, tell us at [email protected] — the second of those is a bug, and we want to know.

Changes to this policy

If the extension's behaviour changes, this policy changes with it, and the date at the top changes too. This policy describes an extension that dials your PBX directly. If that ever changes, this page must change first.
